Nestle Very Best In Youth Awards 2003

In 2003 I was selected to be one of the proud winners of the Nestle Very Best in Youth Awards.  This event and the inspiration of Ken Bentley & Cristina Bastida changed how I felt about what I could do with my future.  I now know that I really can reach for the stars!  Just about every thing I have done since the moment I walked across the Nestle stage has been inspired by them, or the other 37 amazing kids who won this award.  When I need ideas  I still refer to the Nestle Very Best In Youth books and always find inspiration.  From the limo rides, the red carpet treatment and the once in a lifetime moment of meeting my role model, Dr. Sally Ride, the Nestle experience is one I will keep with me always.

ARE YOU A NESTLE KIND OF KID?

IF YOU ARE A GREAT STUDENT AND ARE INVOLVED IN GIVING BACK TO YOUR COMMUNITY, YOU MIGHT BE WHO THEY ARE LOOKING FOR IN 2005!  YOU CAN FIND THE LINK TO THE NEW APPLICATION HERE.

Yep, thats my picture there on the application!  If you do apply, do me a favor.  In the spot that asks how you heard about the program - please put BECCA ROBISON in that space.  I might win the competition on getting the most kids to apply!  If I do, they will fly me out to L.A. to watch you get your award!

The most unbelievable moment of the entire weekend was when I met Dr. Sally Ride, the first American women in space!  Who would have thought that Nestle could make that dream come true?  I was asked to introduce Dr. Ride at a special breakfast for the 2003 Winners and Nestle Employees.  I was so nervous that I couldn't eat!  It was such a thrill to see her walking down the isle after I announced her.  Sometimes I still can't believe it happened!

One afternoon, as groups, we worked on murals that showed our ideas about the world and the Global Community.  I loved getting to know the other winners and hearing their ideas.
